Billie Ann Spitler

Age: 88 • Staunton, VA

Billie Ann Spitler, 88, widow of Warren Evers Spitler, of Staunton, died Sunday, September 24, 2017 at King's Daughters' Community Health and Rehab Center.

She was born December 6, 1928 in Mt. Sidney, a daughter of the late Minor Bell and Zula Mae (Landes) Wilberger.

She was a homemaker and an active member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, particularly the Quilting Circle that makes quilts for Lutheran World Relief. Over the years she volunteered for Meals on Wheels, the American Cancer Society, and the SPCA Thrift Shop. She was devoted to her four pug grand dogs. 

Family members include her twin daughters, Connie Spitler and her partner, Douglas Carter, and Cathy Spitler Lively and her husband, Carter Lively, all of Staunton; a brother, John Wilberger of Staunton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband of 56 years, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Russell and Frank Wilberger and her sisters, Charlotte Link, Hazel Dean, and Jean Myers.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 27, 2017 in Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church by the Rev. Robert McCarty. Burial will follow in Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jay Shaner, Jerry Myers, Wayne Wilberger, the Rev. Kenneth Price, John Dean, and the women of the Quilting Circle. 

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 26, 2017 in the Henry Funeral Home. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2807 N. Augusta Street, Staunton, VA 24401.
